UPDATE FOR SUMMER 2022:

Sadly, due to illness and loss in my family, I’m sorry to announce that all classes, throughout the summers of 2021/2022, had to be cancelled.

All being well, I hope to resume classes next year (2023) and will post the dates here as soon as I have them.

In the meantime however, unfortunately, I’m unable take any future bookings at this time.

Art Classes 2023

SAT. MON. WED. MORNINGS in the studio 10.00am – 1.00pm

SUN. TUES. THURS. ALL DAY out and about, painting ‘en plein air’ 10.00am – 6.00pm

NO NEED TO BOOK, JUST DROP-IN & PAYG

If you are looking for an opportunity to be creative; to paint (or to learn to paint) or to learn a new skill or craft, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, in beautiful surroundings, on an idyllic Greek island, look no further, you’ve found the right place!

‘PAINTING SKIATHOS’ is a small friendly art centre situated on the beautiful Greek (‘Mamma Mia!’) island of Skiathos, one of the Sporades group of islands situated in the Northern Aegean.

Since 2008, resident British artist, Yvonne Ayoub, has been welcoming artists and students alike, from all over the globe, to her art studio at Villa Nicara, Kolios (exactly at Bus Stop 15) – her family summer home for over 40 years.

‘PAINTING SKIATHOS‘ offers many things:

– Primarily it is an idyllic ARTIST RETREAT for the established artist seeking inspiration and an opportunity to let their creativity loose and hone their skills in a peaceful and beautiful environment. It’s also an opportunity to be as reclusive or social as you wish; you can lose yourself for hours in one of the many silent olive groves, ancient forests or any of the many spectacular sandy beaches and ‘hidden’ rocky coves Skiathos has to offer, by day – and meet fellow artists from around the globe, share experiences and ideas, philosophies, techniques etc over a glass or two and a delicious meal at a local taverna, by night. No demands, no expectations, no pressure…..just be…..

– ART CLASSES:

‘PAINTING SKIATHOS’ is open to, and welcomes, art students of all levels (including complete beginners) from all around the world. Classes are small, tuition individual and tailor-made. Attendance can be for as much or as little as you like; one/two weeks, one day or even for just a few hours if your’e holidaying on the island and have a few hours to spare. The ART STUDIO is always open to those who’d like to visit to observe or just want to pop in, have a coffee and a chat. Everyone is welcome!

In the GENERAL DRAWING AND PAINTING CLASSES, tutor YVONNE AYOUB offers tuition in drawing and painting in a wide variety of techniques including water colour, acrylics, oils and mixed media. After initial exercises designed to establish your own personal colour palette and identify your individual style, subjects tackled include: Life Drawing, Landscapes Seascapes, Townscapes, Abstracts, Collage, Portraits and Still Life.

Classes are held both in the studio and ‘en plein air’, at various locations around the island (and via boat trips to neighbouring islands). They run throughout the summer months (May – Oct). Materials and transport are provided.

In addition, from time to time, visiting tutors offer a wide variety of short courses and Master Classes in:

EXHIBITIONS of ART & PHOTOGRAPHY and MONASTERIES & MUSEUMS

CULTURAL EVENTS at the open-air theatre, including PLAYS, CONCERTS and DANCE FESTIVALS

SAILING (solo or with charter w/crew)

or enjoy a wide variety of WATER-SPORTS on any of the many spectacular sandy beaches.

If you’re feeling really energetic, how about CYCLING or RAMBLING (freely or on well-marked trails)

or for a more leisurely pace why not go DOG WALKING. Borrow a friendly four-legged friend from the local animal shelter for an hour or so – they’ll love you for it!.
